Hairdressers could be allowed to reopen in May under proposals the government is considering, the Irish Mirror understands.
Cabinet ministers are holding crucial conversations about which sectors of the economy and society will reopen in the coming months.
But a senior government source has confirmed to the Irish Mirror that the government is considering reopening hair salons in May. Meanwhile, on his way to the cabinet, Public Spending Minister Michael McGrath indicated that personal services such as hairdressers will receive an update today from the government.
He said: “We recognize that the government has a responsibility to give something tangible to the people who have made such sacrifices.
“And I think that, beyond the next few weeks, we will establish what the decisions are for the next weeks, it will be necessary for the general public to have an idea of what is coming in the summer and until May, June and July and I think that the Taoiseach will be willing to convey that later today. “
