The victims of a terror accident between a car and a motorcyclist have been named locally.
The tragic incident occurred around 2pm on Thursday afternoon in Cork.
A car and motorcycle collided on the N20, at Rathgoggin North, Charleville, tragically killing two men.
Since then, they have been named locally as Michael McCarthy, 20, who was driving the motorcycle at the time, and Peter Hefferan, 73, who was driving the car.
McCarthy of Batt Donegan Place in Charleville, Cork and Heffernan of Dromcollogher in Co Limerick were pronounced dead at the scene.
Yesterday, Gardai closed the road and put detours in place and is now asking for witnesses to the tragic incident.
A Garda forensic accident investigator came to the scene to conduct an investigation, while a Garda PSV inspector also began an examination of both vehicles involved in the accident.
A Garda spokesperson said: “Gardaí are asking for witnesses to this collision to come out. They are also asking road users to have camera footage (including the dash cam), who were traveling on the area between 1:30 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. “. .m. to make this footage available to Gardaí.
