Gardai was led in a futile chase along Dublin’s busiest motorway by a hysterical driver who streamed live on social media Monday night.
The speeding suspect was eventually caught in Ballymun and arrested after up to 20 Garda cars were caught in the chase.
Images obtained by Dublin Live show the driver, a woman in her 20s driving a white Mercedes saloon, escaping to the North Dublin estate as sirens sound and blue lights flash behind her.
Another video shows the suspect being arrested as several Garda cars block the top of the road.
Previously, it was streamed live on Instagram, showing her speeding down the M50 motorway with several Garda cars in pursuit.
Gardai told Dublin Live that the chase started when the woman failed to stop just before 6pm tonight.
The chase continued for nearly an hour before she was finally arrested at 6:50 p.m. on Hampton Wood Drive.
Gardai told Dublin Live: “Gardaí is investigating a dangerous driving incident that took place in the Ballymun area of Dublin, tonight, Monday 1 March 2021.
“The incident began at 5.55 pm when a car failed to stop for Gardaí. The driver of this car, a woman in her 20s, was later arrested for dangerous driving on Hampton Wood Drive in Ballymun at 6.50 pm.
“The woman is currently detained at the Ballymun Garda station.
“No injuries have been reported.”
