GARDAÍ HAS STARTED an investigation after a man was attacked by a gang of teenagers who allegedly “took turns” beating the victim while he was lying face down on the ground.
The man was walking through Baldoyle Park in North Dublin last night when he was attacked by a group of eight teenagers.
He was hit on the head and face by the gang who “took turns” attacking him, according to a witness.
Juliane Rehmienier was walking her dogs with a friend when she saw the attack unfold.
The social worker said the man walked up to them and was “minding his own business” before being attacked.
Juliane said TheJournal.ie: “We were walking and then we could hear this cry. They surrounded him and then started beating him. “
Juliane said he asked the group leader to stop and asked why the teens were attacking him.
It is understood that the children had surrounded the victim before and he had tried to force his way through them.
Juliane added: “It was so surreal. They just started hitting him. We kept yelling at them to stop. They had this metal pipe thing and they keep hitting him on the head. It seemed like they really wanted to hurt him. They just took turns hitting him. “
The boys finally left and Juliane and her friend tended to the injured man. There was blood running down his face and his nose appeared to be broken. They called Gardaí and an ambulance.
