Coronavirus Ireland: 13 new deaths, 738 new confirmed COVID-19 cases

Health officials today announced 738 new cases of the coronavirus in Ireland.

That brings the total number of cases in the country since the pandemic began to 218,980.

There have also been 13 more deaths from COVID-19 in the country.

So far 4,313 people have sadly lost their lives as a result of the disease.

311 of the current cases are in Dublin.

The HSE is working to identify any contacts that patients may have had to provide them with information and advice to prevent further spread.

The COVID-19 Dashboard provides up-to-date information on key COVID-19 indicators in the community.

10 of these deaths occurred in February, 1 occurred in January, 1 occurred in October, and 1 date of death remains under investigation.

The mean age of those who died was 81 years and the age range was 55 to 92 years.

Of the cases reported today:

  • 356 are men / 378 are women
  • 71% are under 45 years old
  • The average age is 32 years.
  • 311 in Dublin, 54 in Limerick, 36 in Cork, 34 in Offaly, 33 in Donegal and the remaining 270 cases are spread over 20 other counties.

As of 8 a.m. today, 550 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, of which 135 are in the ICU. 27 additional hospitalizations in the last 24 hours.

As of February 24, 391,355 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine had been administered in Ireland:

  • 254,948 people have received their first dose
  • 136,407 people have received their second dose
