The victim of a terror stabbing in an apartment in Dublin city center has been named locally.

Isaac Horgan was found seriously injured at the Markievicz home near Townsend Street in the capital on Monday morning.

He was rushed to St James Hospital, where he was sadly pronounced dead later that day, Dublin Live reports.

Sources said Horgan’s main stab wound was on his upper leg and that his femoral artery may have been severed.

Residents of the Markievicz house recounted how they were “shocked” upon hearing the news this morning.

One said it was especially heartbreaking since children living in the area, outside of school on their Easter break, would have been playing near the crime scene at the time.

Mr. Horgan, 50, lived alone in the apartment and was said to be not from the area, he had moved into his apartment less than five years ago and Gardai knew him.

The scene remains sealed on the block tonight while Gardai and forensic experts carry out investigations.

A Garda statement said: “Gardaí is investigating all circumstances of the death of a man in his 50s, following an incident at the Markievicz house.”

Gardaí responded to reports of an incident at Markievicz House, Dublin 2 at approximately 11 a.m. on Monday, March 29, 2021.

“A man in his 50s was taken to St James Hospital and later pronounced dead.

“An autopsy will be carried out, the results of which will determine the course of the investigation.

“The scene is still preserved and the staff of the Garda Technical Office and the Crime Scene Division are conducting examinations.”
