Met Eireann has issued a 24-hour weather warning for Donegal when massive rains arrive.
The national forecaster predicts dire conditions in some parts of the country this weekend and Donegal will see the brunt of the wind and rain.
A yellow rain status warning will go into effect at 3pm on Friday and will last until 3pm on Saturday.
The alert reads: “Heavy rains at times during the period. Potential for surface and river flooding.”
The general weekend forecast is for wet and windy weather across the country, with thunderstorms also a feature.

A forecaster from Met Eireann said: “Sunny spells and scattered stormy showers, some of them laden with hail and at risk of isolated thunderstorms. Clouds will increase this afternoon and showers will merge into longer periods of rain in the western counties, before spreading east over the country tonight.
“Cool, with highs of 5 to 9 degrees with moderate to cool, gusty winds from the southwest, strengthening near the western and southern coasts later.
“Windy early tonight, with bands of rain clearing to scattered showers overnight, turning wintry at times on higher ground. The risk of hail and isolated thunderstorms will also persist.
“Cold with lows of 0-3 degrees. Fresh to strong, gusty winds from the southwest veering out of the west will hit storms at times along the coasts of Munster and Connacht.
“Saturday will be a windy day with a mix of sunny spells and stormy downpours again, some of them laden with hail and at risk of isolated thunderstorms. Some winter drops are possible on high ground in the morning.
“The rains will be more intense and frequent in the west and northwest. The highest temperatures of 5 to 8 degrees in cool to strong and gusty winds from west to northwest.”
