Gardai, who is investigating the deaths of two older brothers on a farm in North Cork, found a third body in a nearby river, where a van was found believed to have been abandoned this morning.
A search was underway for the third brother, who was not at Curragorm’s home near Mitchelstown, when an armed Gardai arrived after receiving a frantic phone call from a daughter of one of the dead around midnight last night.
They launched a search for a missing red truck, and it was located near a nearby church this morning. Gardai has now confirmed that a man’s body is being recovered from a nearby river.
“A Garda Síochána has discovered the body of a man in a river in a remote location nearby. Investigations are ongoing at this time to retrieve and identify this body,” a spokesman said.
The investigation began shortly before midnight, last night after Gardai in Mitchelstown was alerted to the incident at a farm and land in Curragorm, Mitchelstown.
Gardaí local uniform and civilian clothing went to the scene with the support of Armed Support Units. The incident is believed to have been initially treated as a possible armed hostage-taking case.
A Garda spokesman said: “A man in his 60s was discovered dead in the corral.”
“After a new search, the body of a second male in his 60s was also discovered in a shed in the corral. Both males are related.”

“The Gardaí began the search for a third man, also related, believed to be driving a red Toyota Corolla Carvan, 03 WW 1556. This car was later found by the Gardaí parked on a disconnected farm in Killacluig, Mitchelstown.
“This car has been removed from the scene for a technical examination.”
A Garda Síochána has discovered the body of a male in a river in a remote location nearby. Investigations are ongoing at this time to recover and identify this body.
“Currently, several scenes have been preserved for technical review by the Garda Technical Office.”

“The bodies of the two men remain at the scene. Dr. Margot Bolster, Locum’s assistant state pathologist will attend the scene and post-mortems will be performed at Cork University Hospital.
