Courts in the Iranian city of Shiraz have flogged a champion wrestler with two shocking death sentences and in 2018 against the Islamic Republic of Iran’s destructive economic policies.
The sentencing of 27-year-old Naveed Afkari has sparked widespread outrage from human rights activists, Iranian-Americans and ornate American wrestlers seeking to stop the execution of Tehran’s clerical rulers.
Afkari is reported to be among the hundreds of protesters who took to the streets in anti-government demonstrations in some cities in August 2018. He was against the deteriorating economic condition of the country and inflation.

News website Iran International reported on Saturday that Iran had sentenced Afkari to two death sentences as well as six years and six months in prison and 74 lashes.
One death sentence was carried out by a criminal court and one by a “revolutionary court”.
“The Islamic Republic of Iran does the same with the mother. Her name is Behih Namju, “Iran’s leading dissident and journalist Masih Alinjad tweeted her to more than 200,000 followers.” His son Naveed Afkari was sentenced to death by the regime just for protesting [sic]. Her other sons are unjustly imprisoned. She has gone from a cheerful and happy mother to a sad and gloomy mother. “
Afkari’s brother Wahid was sentenced to 54 years and six months in jail and 74 lashes. A third brother, Habib, was sentenced to 27 years in prison, three months and 74 attempts.
In a video reviewed by Fox News, the brothers’ mother condemned the shameful action against their sons.
He said, “I desperately want help to make my voice heard.”
The Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRNA) has published an image of Naveed Afkari in a letter in which he said he was tortured by Iranian authorities to force him to confess to the charges against him. He said a plastic bag was stuck in his head and alcohol was poured into his nostrils as part of the torture.
Naveed Afkari, who also works as a plasterer, has won several wrestling medals in Iranian tournaments. Wrestling is Iran’s favorite sport, and Iranian athletes have distinguished themselves in international freestyle and Greco-Roman competitions.

Former star mixed martial artist and Olympic wrestler Ben Oscar tweeted about Iran’s punishment of Afkari: “This looks like a real dictatorial regime.”
Matthew Kernitschineg, Politico’s chief European correspondent, wrote: “What does it mean to impose two death sentences? Were they worried that they might be in control first? ”
Actress Nazneen Boniadi tweeted: “Champion wrestler Naveed Afkari has been sentenced to death for taking part in anti-government protests in Iran. People close to him have said that he was forced to confess under torture. Stop the execution in Iran. “
The International Board of Governors for Amateur Wrestling, Iran’s permanent mission to the United Nations, USA Wrestling and United World Wrestling, did not immediately return Fox News’ requests for comment.
Condemning the planned execution, Los Angeles-based human rights group Simon Vicentel Saint said, “The horrific inhumane Iranian regime is worse than its brutality.”
“World leaders led by Germany, France and Japan should tell Ayatollah [to] Cancel this death sentence or lose your financial lifestyle, “he tweeted.

American-Iranian public intellectual Miriam Memarsadegi tweeted: “One of the best in wrestling is facing execution in Iran. Naveed Afkari’s only crime is his love for the country. Together with his 2 brothers he joined the nationwide protest for independence. Now the Supreme Leader says to use it that no one can oppose his rule.
