‘iPhone 12’ video leaks, iOS 14 feature update, Epic Games saga and more on the AppleInsider podcast

New footage of an alleged “iPhone 12” settings screen is being leaked, launches of iPad and Apple Watch seem imminent, Epic Games and Apple are continuing their distance from the App Store, and there are rumors that Apple is building its own web search platform.

This week, regular leaker Jon Prosser has released video clips from an alleged settings screen of the upcoming “iPhone 12 Pro.” As accurate, this short video shows a lot of features that can come in the new iPhone, including a 120Hz display, the ability to stream 4K video at 240fps, “Enhanced Night Mode” functionality, and more.

What is certain, however, is that seven new variants of iPad, and eight variants of the “Apple Watch Series 6” have just been listed on the Eurasian Economic Commission’s website. That points to an imminent release of these new devices, and separately claims a leaked series of photos reveal what the new iPad Air will look like. It is claimed that Touch ID will be built into the sleep / wake button and a USB-C port, although there is reason to be a little skeptical about the origin of the images.

Meanwhile, Apple and Epic Games continued their standoff, but a court ruled that the Unreal Engine company should remain “intact”. Epic announced that Fortnite’s new season will not be coming to iOS and macOS as the two companies battle over in-app purchases and App Store policies.

The latest iOS 14 beta has shown that Apple Maps can now allow users to direct and submit reviews to businesses, and bypasses the long-used Yelp integration. This feature also comes with rumors that Apple may be developing its own web search platform.
