The iPhone 12 is expected to be announced on October 12. The next day, there were rumors about Apple event on September 10, but on this day, the premiere of the cheap iPad 8 and the top-end iPad Pro, such as the Apple Watch 6 smartwatch, had to take place.
Apple will lower the prices of the iPhone 12 components to offset the 5G cost
According to a new research report by analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple intends to lower the prices of the iPhone 12 components in order to offset rising costs of 5G technology and not increase the retail prices for smartphones.
Adding full 5G support to new smartphones will increase component costs by $ 125-135, the analyst said. That the company is looking for ways to reduce costs for other components.
One such component is the battery board. According to Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple is moving to a simpler, more compact design with fewer layers. The hybrid board for the iPhone 12 will be 40-50% cheaper than the equivalent part in the iPhone 11 line.
In addition, the analyst claims that the company will switch to an even cheaper board option in the iPhone 12s line next year. It will be 30-40% more affordable than the board found in the iPhone 12.
We expect the unveiling of the iPhone12 in October this year.
