Intel makes changes in technology organization


SANTA CLARA, California – (COMMERCIAL WIRE) – Today, Intel CEO Bob Swan announced changes to the company’s technology organization and executive team to accelerate product leadership and improve focus and accountability in executing process technology. With immediate effect, the Technology, Systems Architecture and Clients Group (TSCG) will be separated into the following teams, whose leaders will report directly to the CEO:

  • Technology development, led by Dr. Ann Kelleher. Kelleher, Intel’s consummate leader, has been director of manufacturing for Intel, where she ensured continued operations through the COVID-19 pandemic while increasing supply capacity to meet customer needs and speeding up the process ramp. 10nm from Intel. Now she will lead the development of Intel technology focusing on 7nm and 5nm processes. Dr. Mike Mayberry, who has led the Development of Technology, will consult and assist in the transition until his planned retirement at the end of the year. Mayberry has a 36-year history of innovation at Intel, during which he has made key contributions in technology development and as a leader of Intel Labs.
  • Manufacturing and Operations, led by Keyvan Esfarjani. Esfarjani recently led manufacturing for Intel’s Nonvolatile Memory Solutions (NSG) Group, in which role he established Intel’s memory manufacturing vision and strategy and led a rapid expansion of capacity. Now he will lead global manufacturing operations and continue Kelleher’s work driving the product ramp and creating fabulous new capacity.
  • Design Engineering, led in the meantime by Josh Walden as Intel conducts an accelerated global search to identify a world-class permanent leader. Walden is a proven leader in platform engineering and technology manufacturing. Most recently, he has been at the helm of the Intel Product Safety and Warranty Group (IPAS), which will continue to report to him.
  • Architecture, software and graphics will continue to be led by Raja Koduri. Koduri is responsible for driving the development of Intel architecture and software strategy, and the dedicated graphics product portfolio. Under his leadership, we will continue to invest in our software capabilities as a strategic asset and increased software engineering with expertise in the cloud, platform, solutions and services.
  • The supply chain will continue to be chaired by Dr. Randhir Thakur. Thakur will report directly to the CEO as director of the supply chain, recognizing the increasing importance of this role and our relationships with key ecosystem players. Thakur and his team are charged with ensuring that the supply chain is a competitive advantage for Intel.

As a result of these changes, Murthy Renduchintala will leave Intel on August 3, 2020.
