JAKARTA, KOMPAS.TV – The implementation of Large Scale Social Restrictions (PSBB) was again mentioned by President Joko Widodo.
In a meeting with the virtual Covid-19 management committee, Jokowi assessed that micro-scale social restrictions, also known as mini-confinements, were more effective in reducing the rate of transmission of Covid-19 in the community.
Because according to him, how to handle one area with another cannot be beaten equally.
In response to Jokowi’s proposed mini-blockade, Surabaya Mayor Tri Rismaharini stated that his region has long implemented a regional quarantine that he calls a “micro-blockade.”
Risma also welcomed other regions imitating the “micro-blockade” concept applied in Surabaya.
Meanwhile, in the eyes of epidemiologists, the mini-blockade concept that Jokowi has been anticipating is considered inappropriate if applied across all regions.
The epidemiologist from the University of Indonesia, Tri Yunis Miko Wahyono, stated that the mini-blockade could be effective if the number of Covid-19 cases was still small and the distribution was in the form of groups of regions or people known as clusters.
This is not the only time that Jokowi has claimed that the “mini blockade” is more effective than the PSBB.
On several occasions, the number one person in the country has raised similar things many times.
But what is needed now is not just a debate, but the solidarity of various parties to fight the corona virus.
