LAS VEGAS – American fighter Daniel Cormier revealed an interesting fact about the Khabib Nurmagomedov vs. Justin Gaethje duel at UFC 254. Seeing Khabib razing Gaethje through a triangle block, Cormier considered the action to be carried out by The Eagle – Khabib’s nickname – because he didn’t want to hurt his opponent.
It is known that Khabib managed to defeat Gaethje in their match at UFC 254. He was confirmed to defend the UFC world lightweight title after defeating Gaethje in the second round.
Khabib won over himself after blocking the triangle choke that left Gaethje defenseless until he lost consciousness for a moment. Cormier also revealed Khabib’s decision to apply this move to defeat Gaethje.

According to Cormier, this technique was used by Khabib because he did not want to hurt his rival. The reason is that if he applies other techniques such as the arm, Khabib will actually hurt Gaethje and even threaten to break his opponent’s bones.
Khabib didn’t want to do that knowing that Gaethje’s parents were watching UFC 254 from their home. This reason, of course, invites the admiration of Cormier, who is in fact a close friend of Khabib.
