Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – WhatsApp users in Indonesia can use the automatic message deletion feature. This feature is now available on Android, iOS, KaiOS, and WhatsApp Web.

The name of this function is disappearing messages or temporary messages. With this feature, you no longer have to fear that important and secret WhatsApp chats will be read and quoted by irresponsible people. Because if you activate this function, the chat or chat will be deleted on the seventh day.

“In an individual chat, each party can activate or deactivate the temporary message function. In a group chat, only the administrator has the control to activate and deactivate the temporary message function,” WhatsApp said in an official statement on Friday ( 11/13/2020).

WhatsApp explained that if a temporary message is forwarded to a chat that disables the temporary message feature, the message will not be lost in the forwarded chat.

“If a user creates a backup before the message is lost, a temporary message will be included in the backup. The temporary message will be deleted when the user restores from the backup,” WhatsApp said.

How to activate it on Android, iOS, KaiOS and WhatsApp Web smartphones is quite easy. That’s how:

  • Make sure the WhatsApp you are using is the updated version
  • Enter the WhatsApp application and select the chat or conversation for which you want to activate this function
  • Touch the contact’s name
  • Scroll down and find the disappearing messages feature
  • Then select On

It should be noted that if you activate the automatic message deletion function while the other person does not activate this function, the other person will not be able to read the message you sent.

The words “You received a message but your version of WhatsApp does not support itThe way the other person can read messages is to disable this feature.

If you want messages to be deleted automatically after 7 days, both of you need to turn on auto delete messages or disappear messages (temporary messages).
