Liverpool successfully pulled the outright victory out of the Arsenal cage. This is the Reds’ response to the poor performance of their rivals in the race for the top four.

In their visit to the Emirates Stadium on Sunday (4/4/2021), Liverpool need three points to be able to maintain the possibility of qualifying for the Champions League next season. Against Arsenal, who were often difficult, Liverpool played on the attack from the first minutes.

However, the long-awaited goal only came in the 62nd minute when Diogo Jota hit a Trent Alexander-Arnold cross. Six minutes later, Mohamed Salah doubled the lead to 2-0.

Jota’s second goal in the 82nd minute secured three points for Liverpool and took them to fifth place with 49 points from 30 games. The result is very important considering that a few hours earlier, two Liverpool rivals in the battle for the first four tickets lost.

Chelsea were surprisingly beaten 2-5 by West Bromwich Albion and are now just two points ahead in fourth place. Meanwhile, Leicester City also lost 0-2 to Manchester City, putting Liverpool away from third place “just” seven points.

Seeing that the league only has eight games left, each game will feel more important for Liverpool to win. Still, Juergen Klopp did not want to think that his team was not in his own hands.

“We don’t look at West Ham or Chelsea or anybody else because we have to win. But in our situation, other teams have to lose because we will not face Chelsea or Leicester and similar matches. Work hard and that’s what we did. It’s fun, “Klopp said. Sky Sports.

“Our position is clear, after what we have been through this season, we cannot determine our own destiny in the search for the top four,” continued the German coach.

“We have to win and other teams lose, but we also have to put pressure on them. We will keep fighting and trying to get it.”
