West Kalimantan Governor Sutarmidji has banned Batik Air from flying to Pontianak for the next 10 days, effective December 24, 2020, regarding COVID-19 positive passenger findings. The Transport Ministry (Kemenhub) said the flight ban was its authority.

“We are currently coordinating with the relevant ministries, the COVID-19 Working Group and the West Kalimantan Provincial Government to find the best solution so that people can still get healthy, safe and comfortable services,” said the Ministry jury spokeswoman. of Transport, Adita Irawati, to journalists, on Saturday (12/26/2020).

Adita also explained the travel requirements and health documents. He said that the validation of the document was not the authority of the airline.

“The requirements for passenger travel, including PCR-related validation and rapid test documents, are basically not the authority of airlines and airport managers,” he said.

After the discovery of 5 Batik Air passengers heading to Pontianak, the Governor of West Kalimantan, Sutarmidji, banned Batik Air from flying for 10 days. Adita emphasized that the issue of the ban on flying is the responsibility of the Ministry of Transport.

“The closure of flight routes and flight restrictions are the responsibility of the Ministry of Transport,” he said.

Previously, the Governor of West Kalimantan, Sutarmidji, banned Batik Air airline from flying to Pontianak for the next 10 days, starting on December 24, 2020. This was following the finding of COVID-19 positive passengers on the airline.

“One of the 20 airlines that was swabbed, there were 5 that tested positive. The clue is that the certificate they brought was fake. We have coordinated with Angkasa Pura, with the KKP Airport, they are all out of responsibility. So we decided not to make the airline worry. I can carry passengers to Pontianak for 10 days, “Sutarmidji wrote on his personal Facebook page, quoted on Friday (12/25).

“As Head of the Task Force, I will be strict and enter West Kalimantan until January 8, 2021 with a COVID-free letter via PCR smear test,” he added.
