Continued journey from West Bromwich Albion to Stamford Bridge on Saturday (3/4/2021) evening WIB in the Premier League. Sam Allardyce’s team won 5-2 thanks to two goals from Matheus Pereira and Callum Robinson, as well as a goal from Mbaye Diagne.
Chelsea took the lead through Christian Pulisic, but Thiago Silva’s red card in the 29th minute changed the tide of the game. Mason Mount’s goal in the 71st minute was just a consolation goal.
Sam Allardyce admits that he prepared a game plan against Chelsea during the last international break and was determined to play aggressively from the start. Thiago Silva’s red card in the process only made the way easier.
“They played with 10 people, that’s fitting. Thiago Silva could have been sent off for his first offense,” coach nicknamed Big Sam told BBC.
“But on the many occasions when I got results against 10 men, we ruined Chelsea. We started very well, we put pressure on the opponent and we didn’t wait.”
“I have three weeks to think about this match and what kind of tactics to use. We said ‘Come on, let’s challenge them’ and it worked really well,” added Sam Allardyce.
