Locsin’s comments mark the first time the Rodrigo Duterte Administration has publicly stated that it will seek the help of the United States, amid ongoing turmoil between the Philippines and China in disputed waters.

“They can call it illegal provocation, you can’t change your mind. They have already lost through an arbitration award,” Locsin said, referring to a 2016 international court ruling that declared China had violated the Philippine maritime affairs in the Sea. of South China.
