Vinales wins, Joan Mir bites his finger

Maverick Vinales had a brilliant performance in the inaugural MotoGP race in 2021. He emerged as the Qatar MotoGP champion, while world champion Joan Mir bit his fingers.

Viñales, who started from third position at the Losail circuit on Monday (3/29/2021) in the morning WIB, fell to fifth position entering the first corner. But little by little he improved his position to be able to look at the forefront of the 15th lap.

Horse rider Monster Energy Yamaha then opened the distance and secured a front finish. The drama takes place in the fight for position 2-3.

MotoGP world champion Joan Mir took second place on the last lap. But Johann Zarco and Francesco Bagnaia followed suit and took advantage of Mir’s mistake in the last corner to overtake.

As a result, Mir was unable to finish on the podium area, losing to Zarco and Bagnaia.

The course of the race

After starting, Bagnaia held a leadership position. Jack Miller shot to second place, followed by Johann Zarco and Jorge Martín. Ducati controls the front four entering the first corner!

The position does not change until a round is completed. The Yamaha trio of Fabio Quartararo, Maverick Vinales and Valentino Rossi, respectively, finished 5-7. Danilo Petrucci became the first rider to crash.

Quartararo and Vinales beat Martín in the third round. Meanwhile, Rossi fell to ninth position after being overtaken by Suzuki duo Alex Rins and world champion Joan Mir.

Quartararo and Vinales continued to close the gap with the three leaders. Five rounds of work, Rins edged out Martin and ranked sixth.

Quartararo passed Miller on lap six and managed to keep him on the straight. Rossi is now in 10th position after being called up by Aleix Espargaró.

Viñales caught up with Miller in the eighth round. Up front, Bagnaia began recording Zarco.

15 remaining laps, the order is: Bagnaia, Zarco, Quartararo, Miller, Vinales, Rins, Mir, Martin, A. Espargaró, Oliveira, Rossi, P. Espargaró, Binder, Bradl, Márquez, Bastianini, Lecuona, Marini, Morbidelli, Savadori

Viñales successfully outpointed Quartararo in the eleventh round and finished third. Behind him, Miller, who had fought Rins, now began to pressure Quartararo. Miller managed to overtake on the next lap.

Soon after, Viñales caught up with Zarco for second place. Rins soon took fifth place from Quartararo. Bagnaia remains in the lead, followed by Viñales, Zarco, Miller, Rins and Quartararo in the top six.

Viñales has remained in Bagnaia since taking second place. Zarco was still on the track, while Rins took fourth from Miller in the 14th round.

Vinales’ efforts paid off on lap 15, he led the race after overtaking Bagnaia. Zarco, Rins, Miller and Mir round out the top six with Quartararo falling to seventh.

Zarco passed Bagnaia and kept the distance for almost a second on lap 18. But Viñales was 0.6 seconds ahead of pole position. Behind them: Mir, Rins and Quartararo.

Mir managed to overtake Bagnaia on lap 20 to enter the podium area. Up front, Viñales was already 1.4 seconds ahead with two laps to go.

Mir did not stop, he overtook Zarco and climbed to second place on the last lap. But the story doesn’t stop there. Mir swerved at the last corner, then Zarco and Bagnaia advanced the straight and took 2-3.

Viñales was the winner, followed by Zarco and Bagnaia. Mir, Quartararo and Rins are 4-6. The top 10 are completed by Aleix Espargaró, Pol Espargaró, Jack Miller and Enea Bastianini.

Valentino Rossi finished in 12th position, while his teammate, Franco Morbidelli, in 18. Three drivers failed to finish, namely Alex Márquez, Takaaki Nakagami and Danilo Petrucci.
