When the lid of the sarcophagus was opened, archaeologists found the mummy, still dressed in ornate linen, with the color still intact.
The Saqqara Tomb or Saqqara Cemetery, located in the southern part of the capital Cairo, Egypt, is ‘home’ to many luxurious sarcophagi with one of the earliest pyramids in the area, the Step Pyramid of Djoser.
However, the site has suffered extensive damage over the centuries due to looting and illegal excavations.
