Victory 2-0, Spurs beat Chelsea from the top of the standings

Tottenham Hotspur successfully beat Manchester City 2-0 in the Premier League. These results led José Mourinho’s squad to the top of the standings, displacing Chelsea.

City managed to score a goal in the 27th minute with a shot from Aymeric Laporte, taking advantage of Gabriel Jesús’s bait in the penalty area. However, the referee disallowed the goal, after the video assistant referee (VAR) broadcast showed Jesus controlling the ball with his hands before passing.

City continued to press. In the 41st minute, Gabriel Jesus fired a fierce shot after using a frenzy in front of Tottenham’s goal, but the result went wide. Score 1-0 for Tottenham to close the first half.

In the second half, City put further pressure on Tottenham. Kevin De Bruyne came close to scoring in the 51st minute, but his long-range shot went off the mark on the left side of the goal. Two minutes later, Riyad Mahrez’s shot is stopped by Lloris.

In the 57th minute, Joao Cancelo sent a cross to Jesús, but the ball was difficult to reach for the Brazilian forward, so his shot was very wide.

Continuing to be attacked did not make Tottenham panic. In the 65th minute, they doubled their lead with a deadly counterattack.

The city keeps trying to catch up. De Bruyne takes a direct free kick in the 73rd minute, but his shot goes wide. In the 90th minute, Rodri’s header from close range is brilliantly saved by Lloris.

Until the match ended, no more goals were scored and the score remained 2-0.
