Victoria 2-1, Blaugrana displaced Madrid in the standings

Barcelona managed to win in the 21st of the Spanish League. Entertaining Athletic Bilbao, Ronald Koeman’s team won 2-1 narrowly.

At the Camp Nou, Monday (1/2/2021) WIB at dawn, Barcelona took the lead in the 20th minute with a Lionel Messi free kick, but Bilbao managed to equal the score in the 49th minute with the suicide of Jordi Alba.

In a draw, Antoine Griezmann emerged as a hero with a goal in the 74th minute. This result became the Blaugrana’s fifth consecutive victory, as well as avenging their defeat in the Spanish Super Cup final.

These three additional points also raised their position to second place in the standings with 40 points, displacing Real Madrid who also had the same points. As for Bilbao, it is in eleventh position with 24 points.

The course of the match

Barcelona nearly took the lead quickly in the 5th minute with a close-range shot from Messi, but Bilbao goalkeeper Unai Simón managed to block it. Two minutes later, it was Griezmann’s turn to push.

Bilbao tries to answer. Yuri Berchiche started from long distance in the 23rd minute, but Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen was able to secure it.

Barcelona turned to the press. Ronald Araujo had a chance in the 25th minute, but his shot still missed the mark. In the 45th minute, Ousmane Dembélé’s shot still bounced off Bilbao’s goal. The score remains 1-0 until the break.

In the second half, Bilbao managed to equalize in minute 49. Raúl García’s center tries to be cleared by Jordi Alba, but the ball goes to the net.

Alba protested because he felt pushed first by Óscar de Marcos, but the broadcast of the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) declared a legitimate goal. The score becomes 1-1.

Barcelona is not discouraged and tries to stand out again. There was Miralem Pjanic, who fired a header from a Griezmann cross in the 57th minute, but was blocked by Simon. Two minutes later, Griezmann’s header misses the mark.

TARGET! Barcelona took the lead again in the 74th minute. Dembele deftly sent a long pass to Oscar Mingueza, who ran into the penalty area.

The young Blaugrana defender then shot a cross to Griezmann, and the number 7 continued with a successful shot by breaking into Bilbao’s goal.

In the remaining time, Bilbao tried to equalize, but Barcelona’s 2-1 did not change until the long whistle.
