Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin revealed that the creation of herd immunity (community immunity) is not short-lived. It took Indonesia 3.5 years to inject the Covid-19 vaccine into the Indonesian population.
Budi Gunadi Sadikin explained that to achieve herld immunity, the government has prepared 426 million doses of the Covid-19 vaccine for 181 million Indonesians. According to WHO standards, each resident will receive two injections.
“We are preparing a buffer stock of 15%, so the total we need is around 426 million doses of vaccine,” said the man usually called BGS, as quoted on the official website of the ministry of health, on Saturday (02/01/2021).
Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin predicts that it will take at least 3.5 years to complete the Covid-19 vaccination process in Indonesia. “It will take about 3.5 years to vaccinate everything,” he said.
Currently, Indonesia has received 3 million doses of finished vaccine from Sinovac Biotech. To ensure 426 million doses of vaccine, the Ministry of Health will take five routes. Namely:
1. Vaksin Sinovac. A total of 122.5 million doses of vaccine are expected to arrive in Indonesia between December 2020 and January 2021. Indonesia also has the option to request an additional 100 million doses of vaccine that will arrive in Indonesia from September 2021 to March. of 2022.
2. Vaksin Novavax. Indonesia has ordered 50 million doses of vaccine with an option of 80 million additional doses of vaccine expected to arrive in Indonesia between June 2021 and March 2022.
3. Vaksin COVAX / GAVI. Indonesia has ordered 54 million doses of vaccine with 54 million additional doses of vaccine expected to arrive in Indonesia in the second quarter of 2021 through the second quarter of 2022.
4. AstraZeneca vaccine. The plan is for Indonesia to request 50 million doses of vaccine with the option of 50 million additional doses of vaccine. The vaccine is expected to arrive in Indonesia in the third quarter of 2021 through the first quarter of 2022.
5. Pfizer vaccine. This vaccine is also still in the finalization stage of an agreement. The plan is for Indonesia to request 50 million doses of vaccine with the option of 50 million additional doses of vaccine.
