“Artillery troops attacked the Aramco distribution center using Quds 2 missiles, which have been successfully deployed in an unannounced operation deep within Saudi territory,” Yahya Saree, a spokesman for the Iran-aligned group, said on Twitter. Al Araby, Tuesday (11/24/2020).
He described the attack as well targeted, sending ambulances and fire trucks rushing to the scene.
The spokesperson added a satellite image labeled “North Jeddah Bulk Plant – Saudi Aramco” to the message.
While most of Aramco’s production and export facilities are in the eastern state, more than 1,000 km from Jeddah, a Google Maps search revealed a facility that matches the one described by Saree’s post, located in the northern outskirts of Jeddah.
“We repeat our warning to (Saudi) citizens and foreign companies working in Saudi Arabia: our operations are ongoing and must avoid vital facilities, which are one of our intended targets,” the Houthi spokesman added.
A video circulating on social media shows smoke rising from what is claimed to be the site of the alleged attack. Al Araby was unable to verify the veracity of the video.
