Joe Biden won the US presidential election, beating Donald Trump, after a tense recount following Tuesday’s election.
The BBC had projected that Biden would win in the key state of Pennsylvania, bringing him to a total of 273 electoral votes, exceeding the minimum of 270 required to reach the White House.
Trump’s campaign team said its candidate had no plans to admit defeat, while the legal team said it would start work on Monday.
Biden said it was time for America to “come together” and shake off the anger.
“The campaign is over, it’s time to forget about anger and harsh rhetoric and unite as a nation,” he said.
In his comments, Biden said, “America, I am honored, has chosen me to lead our great country.”
“The job ahead of us will be difficult, but I promise you that I will be the president of all Americans, regardless of whether they vote for me or not,” Biden wrote Saturday.
“I will retain the trust you have given me.”
Kamala Harris will be the first female vice president in American history.
These results show that Trump was the first president not to be reelected for a second term since the 1990s.
Legal efforts begin on Monday
In response to these results, members of the legal team at a press conference in Philadelphia said they would initiate the legal process on Monday (9/11).
Rudy Giuliani, a lawyer and a close associate of Trump, claimed that Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, who had died was among those on the list to vote this year.
But so far there is no evidence for this claim.
“You can’t lose that advantage without cheating,” Giuliani said, referring to Trump’s advantage at the beginning of the election, when the vote-by-mail did not yet count.
Another state where Biden is expected to win
The BBC’s projections of Biden’s victory are based on unofficial results for states that have finished counting votes and expected results for states like Wisconsin, while the vote count is still ongoing.
Three other states – Arizona, Nevada and Georgia – have yet to announce the results and have thus far demonstrated Biden’s leadership as well.
This election has had the largest number of voters since 1900.
Biden won more than 73 million votes so far, the most votes for a presidential candidate in American history.
Meanwhile, Trump won nearly 70 million votes, the second-highest number of votes in history.
This victory made Biden the 46th president of the United States and the oldest president of the United States at the age of 78.
President Trump previously warned Biden not to declare victory, a day after he declared victory himself, although the count was still at an early stage.
Overall, the number of voters who cast their ballots in the US presidential election was the highest in 120 years, about 66.9%.
To his supporters, on Friday night local time (Saturday morning, WIB), Biden again said that “the figures show clear news, we will win the election.”
Biden, accompanied by Kamala Harris, said he was on track to win more than 300 electoral votes and said the number of people who voted for him was a record in the history of the US presidential election: more than 74 million.
Biden also said that the Americans gave him a mandate to address the coronavirus pandemic, the economy, climate change and systemic racism.
Positive case data on Friday, showing more than 127,000 new Covid-19 cases, a new record in three days.
The Democratic Party candidate called himself a candidate for unity after a very tough election.
“We could be in the opposition but we are not enemies, we are Americans,” Biden said without offending his Republican opponent Trump.
But Trump has again made several unsubstantiated allegations in a series of taunts, uploads that have received warnings from Twitter.
The four posts called Twitter could be discredited or could lead to the wrong things.
Saturday’s tweet included Trump’s claim that the illegal votes came on Election Day in states like Pennsylvania, erasing his lead.
Jo Biden’s leadership took place in four key states: Pennsylvania, Georgia, Arizona and Nevada, along with the mail-in vote counting.
Mail-in votes are only counted recently after the vote counting of people who vote directly in the TPS. Analysts had predicted such counting developments in the run-up to the election, and many of those who voted by mail were Democrats.
Trump himself did not provide any evidence about the allegations via Twitter.
Care tightens
The US security service increased security against Joe Biden, including placing flight restrictions on Joe Biden’s residence in Wilmington, Delaware.
Temporary Flight Restrictions (TFRs) were put in place around the Biden residence, at the request of the Secret Service.
On November 4, the restriction radius was extended to almost five kilometers until at least November 11.
Those who violate the law can face up to 12 months in prison and a fine of US $ 100,000 (Rp1.4 billion).
This flight restriction is a common procedure for important political figures.
However, the security details of the selected president will be on a much larger scale.
