According to WHO data, the four Chinese vaccines under development have entered phase three or final phase clinical trials. If a clinical trial involving a large number of volunteers is successful, the company will only have to apply for distribution permits from the health authorities of several countries.
Quoted from the Washington Post, the Chinese vaccine has been injected into thousands of people. This vaccine injection is an emergency use program whose license was issued on July 22.
Some of the Chinese citizens who have been injected with the vaccine in this program are the military, employees in border areas, health workers and vaccine development employees, and Chinese diplomats in other countries.
According to Zheng Zhongwei, head of China’s coronavirus vaccine development program, authorities are considering expanding delivery of the vaccine this fall to employees of the food market, transportation system and service industry.
“To prevent the spread of the disease in the fall and winter, we are considering a moderate expansion of the program. The aim is to establish an immune barrier between specific groups of the population,” Zhongwei said.
China Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) principal investigator Wu Guizhen estimates that the Chinese vaccine will be ready for public use in November or December 2020.
According to him, clinical trials of several candidate vaccines are proceeding smoothly and preparations will be made for mass production of vaccines.
“I joined this experimental group and received injections last April.” Wu Guizhen said. “I feel good in the last months, nothing abnormal. The inoculation process does not cause pain in the body.”
