JAKARTA, KOMPAS.TV – The sixth president of the Republic of Indonesia, Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY), once received harsh criticism from the public when the government and the DPR agreed to an indirect election or the regional head was chosen by the DPR.
This was expressed by the Minister of Politics, Law and Security Mahfud MD at the I National Conference of Social and Political Sciences held by CSIS Indonesia, on Wednesday (10/14/2020).
At the event, Mahfud spoke about the evaluation and the history of the elections.
“At the time, the civil society attacks against the SBY government were extraordinary,” Mahfud MD was quoted as saying on Kompas.com.
“Pak SBY (considered by the public) is destroying democracy, all kinds of things. Pak SBY could not bear to see the blows, it is said that he cried on the plane, on the way, not loud,” he said.
