Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – The House of Representatives (DPR RI) officially approved the Omnibus Bill on Job Creation (Ciptaker) of the Government of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) in an Act (UU).
The ratification of this bill was rejected by the workers as it was considered impartial. Especially with regards to severance pay points that are no longer awarded when there is a termination of employment (PHK) by various criteria.
Of the bill that was passed by CNBC Indonesia on Tuesday (6/10/2020) that was passed, several points that were deemed detrimental to workers were not giving severance pay when they were laid off due to prolonged illness, being subjected to letters of warning three times until his death.

The following points were rejected by workers regarding severance pay, which CNBC Indonesia summarized from the Ciptaker Bill of the Omnibus Act:
1. Workers are fired because they receive the third warning letter while working without receiving severance pay.
2. Workers who resign receive nothing, including severance pay.
3. Workers who have been laid off due to a change in status or change in company ownership are no longer eligible for severance pay.
4. Layoffs of workers Because the company closed due to continuous losses for 2 years, they no longer receive severance pay.
5. Workers fired because the company went bankrupt no longer received severance pay
6. Workers laid off due to retirement age will no longer receive severance pay.
7. Workers who die, so their heirs will no longer receive severance pay
8. Workers who have been laid off due to prolonged illness or who experience disabilities due to work-related accidents also do not receive severance pay.
Apart from that, what is also in the workers’ sights is the amount of severance pay when they are laid off. Where the amount is drastically reduced from 32 times the salary or wages to a maximum of 25 times.
