Suara.com – The Instagram account @ undercover.id shared an interesting video with one of the 37th MTQ participants in North Sumatra.

A participant known to be from the North Labuhanbatu caravan refused to remove her veil and preferred to be disqualified.

“His hands were shaking when this North Sumatran MTQ participant was told to remove his veil. He also prefers disqualification rather than removing the veil,” the video statement wrote on Wednesday (09/09/2020) .

The incident began when the jury invited artist number 2735 to take the stage.

He immediately ran to the stage, holding the microphone that had been prepared by the committee.

But when the contestant was about to start, the jury immediately asked that she remove the veil she was wearing.

“Can you remove the veil, please?” the jury said.

“Sorry Ustadz, I can’t do it,” replied the participant firmly.

The jury insisted that the participating women who wore veils should open their veils so that their reading was known.

Also, according to the jury, the regulation for removing the veil was established at MTQ Pontianak last year and has become a national regulation.

Participants who were reluctant to open their veils were notified if the veils were not removed, they would automatically be disqualified.

“Sorry, Ustadz, I can’t do it,” said the participant firmly in his stance.

He immediately lowered the microphone he was holding and immediately left the stage.

Due to the viral video of the incident, thousands of netizens immediately flooded the comment column of @ undercover.id, some were pro and some were against.

When man’s rules are higher than God’s rules“said the account owner @ limit.chennnnn.

Is the jury really you? Very gently his mouth told the veiled person to open it,.“continues the account @ tretanpardede212.

Participants must read the existing rules“said the account @ ko2_2512.

The committee in this case, like the following video uploaded to @ undercover.id, immediately provided clarification.

The clarification was delivered by the head of the 37th MTQ Board of Judges, Yusuf Rekso.

“With this we explain that the use of the veil is not something that is haram, the only problem is that the veil is used badly. This means that the use of the veil is used to deceive the appearance of the participants,” Yusuf said in a Video uploaded to @ undercover.id, Wednesday (09/09/2020).

He added that in fact there is no ban on wearing a veil to appear at the MTQ, however, the person in question must be prepared to be examined by a board of judges.

“So that it can be adjusted between the faces (veiled participants) and the photos that were collected,” he added.

Also, Yusuf added, the opening of the veil during the MTQ was to minimize all forms of cheating as more advanced technology could be used to cheat.

Like the previous upload, this second video from @ undercover.id was also flooded with comments from netizens.

The committee was wrong, they told him to open aurat in public,“said @ akiskisman2.

God willing, there is a lesson in everything … with this incident, I hope that more and more Muslim brothers, especially in Indonesia, will emigrate to wear the veil en masse., “writes the account @alamsyahamir.
