Today, Britain begins a new era. The new era in Britain began after it officially separated from the European Union.

Britain stopped following EU rules at 11pm local time, on Thursday (12/31/2020), when alternative agreements for cooperation on travel, trade, immigration and security came into force.

British Prime Minister (PM) Boris Johnson said Britain now has the freedom and ability to do things differently and better now that the long Brexit process is over.

“This is an extraordinary time for this country,” Johnson said in his New Year’s Eve message.

“We have freedom in our hands and it is up to us to make the most of it.”

Meanwhile, British ministers warned that there would be some disruptions in the coming days and weeks, as the new rules went into effect and the British company that trades with the European Union accepted the changes. However, officials insist there is a new border system.

It should be noted that Britain officially left the 27-member political and economic bloc on January 31, 2020, three and a half years after British citizens voted to leave in the 2016 Brexit referendum.

Britain has been stuck on EU trade rules for the past 11 months as the two sides negotiate their future economic partnership.

After the trade talks ended, a landmark deal was finally reached on Christmas Eve. The treaty became law in Britain on Wednesday after being approved by Parliament.

Under the new agreement, which comes into effect at 24:00 local time, British manufacturers will have duty-free access to the internal market of the European Union, which means that there will be no import taxes on goods crossing between the Kingdom. Kingdom and the mainland.

But that means more paperwork for businesses and people traveling to EU countries while there is still uncertainty about what will happen to banking and services, which are a major part of the UK economy.
