BOLASPORT.COM – Justin Gaethje is still reluctant to admit that he is the interim UFC lightweight champion before the match against Khabib Nurmagomedov.

Khabib Nurmagomedov will face Justin Gaethje at UFC 254 in Fight Island, Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates on Sunday (10/25/2020) at the morning WIB.

The bout will unite Nurmagomedov’s lightweight title with interim lightweight champion Gaethje.

Gaethje won the interim lightweight title after successfully replacing Nurmagomedov in the match against Tony Ferguson at UFC 250.

Come down like helpless and nearly knocked out, Gaethje was able to come out of the Octagon with a convincing victory.

An interim champion belt was placed around Gaethje’s waist after his name was announced as the winner. However, Gaethje was reluctant to use it.

Just seconds later, Gaethje threw away his acting belt. “I’ll wait for the royal belt,” he said at the time.

Gaethje’s attitude did not change. He still turned down the interim title when he attended the UFC 254 pre-game press conference on Fight Island on Wednesday (10/21/2020).
