The 2021 U-20 World Cup in Indonesia has been officially postponed until 2023. Solo Mayor FX Hadi Rudyatmo, whose territory is one of the hosts, expects ongoing renovations to continue to be completed.

As is well known, there are five complementary fields of the Manahan Stadium venue that are used for training. The five are Sriwedari Stadium, Sriwaru Square, Kottabarat Square, Karangasem Square, and Banyuanyar Square.

“Development is already underway, hopefully it will continue. Later we will also propose maintenance costs,” Rudy said when meeting at Loji Gandrung on Friday (12/25/2020).

According to him, postponing the event until 2023 will also have a positive impact. He believes that if the U-20 World Cup still takes place in 2021 as scheduled, there will be no major impact on the improvement of the Solo people’s economy considering the current situation.

“In 2021, surely no one will see it because they are still worried about a pandemic. In 2023 we can still prepare more thoroughly, “he explained.

Rudy also canceled the policy of relocating Manahan’s culinary havens for six months. In fact, FIFA has requested that the area around the stadium not be used for other activities. “We also postpone relocation and rest of traders. We can also prepare better concepts for the management of traders,” he said.

As previously reported, the 2021 U-20 World Cup to be held in Indonesia was officially canceled. The ongoing COVID-19 pandemic is the cause. This news was relayed directly by the parent organization of world football, FIFA. Not only the U-20 World Cup, the 2021 U-17 World Cup that will be played in Peru also has the same luck.

Still, FIFA did not necessarily ignore the preparations that the two countries have made for these events. In return, Indonesia and Peru will be designated to host the same tournament for 2023.
