WASHINGTON – Former National Security Adviser John Bolton criticized Minister for Foreign Affairs (Minister) Mike Pompeowho said the president Donald trump won a second term. This was inseparable from Pompeo’s statement that there would be a smooth transition for the second Trump administration.

“I think it’s delusional for Mike to say that, and I have to say that I think it’s taking away his credibility internationally,” Bolton told CNN broadcaster Wolf Blitzer in response to Pompeo’s comments during a television interview. Newsweek, Wednesday (11/11/2020).

Bolton said he believes there are very few people in the US administration who sincerely believe that Trump won the presidential election. Bolton then wonders if Pompeo made such comments to prevent Trump’s impeachment or as a way to avoid his possible bid for the Republican presidency in 2024.

Blitzer then asked Bolton if the Trump administration refused to acknowledge Biden’s victory and provide security briefings to the president-elect on potential national security issues. Bolton said he believes Trump and Biden should be instructed because one of them will eventually take over as president.

Earlier during Tuesday’s press conference, Pompeo was asked about a possible transition of power to the Biden administration.
