WASHINGTON DC, KOMPAS.com – The president of the United States (USA), Donald Trump, has defended his supporters for their alleged role in the recent clashes.
Trump also defended a teenager accused of shooting and killing two people in Wisconsin BBC, Tuesday (1/9/2020).
He helped defend his supporters who were involved in fighting in Oregon on Saturday (8/29/2020). Trump called his supporters “self-defense.”
He said Joe Biden, his Democratic rival in the upcoming general election, did not specifically deny that left-wing activists are accused of civil unrest.
The violence comes amid widespread protests against racism and has been largely peaceful.

Biden has spoken out against the violence and accused Trump of causing divisions in the United States.
At a press conference at the White House on Monday (8/31/2020), Trump blamed Biden and his allies for the violence in the area led by the mayor or governor of the Democratic Party.
A reporter CNN asked Trump if he would condemn Trump supporters who had shot a grain of paint during a clash with protesters in Portland, Oregon.
Trump described the stunt as peaceful and said the painting was a self-defense mechanism.
Another reporter asked Trump if he condemned the shooting in Kenosha, Wisconsin, which was allegedly carried out by a teenager who was once photographed supporting Trump.

Kyle Rittenhouse, 17, is accused of shooting three people, two of them fatally, last week amid demonstrations in Kenosha over the shooting of the black man, Jacob Blake.
“We’re looking at all of that,” Trump said of the bloody incident.
Trump said Rittenhouse was trying to protect himself from being attacked by a group of people.
“And that is something that we are seeing now and it is being investigated. I think he is in big trouble, he might get killed,” Trump continued.

Two Democratic members of Congress criticized Trump for his comments.
Joe Kennedy III of the Massachusetts Precinct (Dapil) wrote on Twitter that the current US president is justifying the assassination by whites.
“Those who carry assault rifles illegally across state lines,” Kennedy said.
Eric Swalwell of the California constituency wrote on Twitter that the president had recently designated the Republican Party as the “Mass Shooter Party.”
