TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – The head of the winning team of the Eri Cahyadi – Armudji candidate pair, Adi Sutarwijono, responded to the Machfud Arifin – Mujiaman camp plan to challenge the results of the 2020 Surabaya City elections to the Constitutional Court.
Adi said that each party has the right to take legal action regarding the results of the recapitulation of the Surabaya city elections. However, Adi said it was precisely his party that found evidence of fraud in the Machfud camp. He also said that people knew who distributed the basic necessities, sarongs and money of the entire electoral process until the day of the vote.
“We found evidence of structured, massive and systematic fraud that took place in many places in Surabaya,” Adi said in a written statement on Thursday, December 17, 2020.
Adi said the findings had been reported to the Electoral Supervision Agency (Bawaslu). Including the findings of the involvement of regional chiefs in East Java in the Pilkada campaign in Surabaya that he got from social media.
If Machfud-Mujiaman files a dispute over the results of the elections to the Constitutional Court, Adi said, Eri-Armudji will appeal for justice to the judge of the Court. “We are sure that the panel of judges of the Constitutional Court will decide according to justice,” said the DPC chairman of the Indonesian Democratic Struggle Party in Surabaya.
Adi said that the difference in votes from the results of the Surabaya regional main elections was very large, that is, more than 145 thousand votes with Eri-Armudji beating Machfud-Mujiaman. According to him, the magnitude of this difference proves that the people of Surabaya want Eri-Armudji to become mayor and deputy mayor.
“At the same time, people want all the works of Bu Risma (Tri Rismaharini, Mayor of Surabaya) to be maintained and developed,” he said.
Adi continued, This is a fact of democracy after December 9, 2020. He also suggested that Machfud and Mujiaman simply accept these results as the voice of the people in the democratic process.
“On our advice, we should be relieved. We accept the ‘word’ of the people across Surabaya on December 9,” he said. “The voice of the people is the voice of God, vox populi vox Dei.”
Earlier, Machfud Arifin stated that he would file a lawsuit against the Pilkada 2020 results to the MK. Pair # 2 considers many traps to be structured, systematic, and massive.
