JAKARTA, KOMPAS TV – National Police Chief General Idham Azis said he would criminalize those who prevented the police from carrying out the law enforcement process against Rizieq Shihab, imam of the Islamic Defenders Front (FPI).
Idham Azis felt the need to give such a warning. This is because his men find it difficult to carry out the law enforcement process because they are often intercepted by masses of Rizieq Shihab supporters.
As is known, the Islamic Defenders Army (LPI), the wing organization of the FPI, has strictly monitored access to Rizieq Shihab’s home since a crowd broke out in Petamburan, central Jakarta, allegedly violating the Covid-19 health protocol.

Several times the police visited Petamburan, but were blocked by the LPI lines. They did not allow the police to enter Rizieq’s house even though it was only to send a subpoena for the investigation.
“There are criminal penalties for those who try to prevent officers from carrying out the law enforcement process,” Idham said through his official statement in Jakarta on Thursday (03/12/2020).
Idham Azis said that all stakeholders or community organizations involved must comply with the applicable legal framework in Indonesia.
