Jakarta – Mercy’s driver MRK (21) got away after hitting child J (9) in Kelapa Gading, North Jakarta. Mercy, which was driven by MRK, sped up immediately after hitting the victim. What is the reason the assailant ran away?
“The suspect admitted to having escaped out of fear and shock as a result of the accident,” Dirlantas Polda Metro Jaya Kombes Sambodo Purnomo Yogo said during a press conference at Polda Metro Jaya Ditlantas Gakkum Sub-Directorate office, Pancoran, South Jakarta, Wednesday ( 3/24/2021).
The incident occurred on Sunday morning (3/21). At the time, the suspect was about to go to his parents’ home in Cakung, East Jakarta.
“At that time, in the morning, the person in question was on his way to his parents’ home in Cakung,” Sambodo said.
In fact, the police identified the car the suspect used at the time and visited the suspect’s home in Cakung. However, at the time the suspect was not at his parents’ home and only Mercy’s car was found.
“So we also get this evidence at his parents’ home in Cakung,” he continued.
The accident started when Mercy’s car with police number B-2388-RFQ drove into Jalan Cengkir Raya, Kelapa Gading, North Jakarta, heading west. Upon arriving at the scene, the car struck the victim who was walking in the morning with her parents.
As a result of the incident, the victim suffered serious injuries and brain hemorrhage. Meanwhile, both parents of the victim suffered minor injuries.
The police then investigate the accident case. The police made an effort to find the identity of the vehicle because at that time the CCTV of the place was blurred and could not capture the license plates.
Until finally, the police found the identity of the vehicle and went to the vehicle owner’s home in Cakung. At that time, only his car was at his home, but the suspect was not there.
The new suspect then turned himself in on Wednesday (3/24) this afternoon to the North Jakarta Metropolitan Police. Later, the police named him a suspect and detained him.
