JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – The Investigation Team of the National Human Rights Commission (Komnas HAM) has completed an examination of various evidence in the incident of the death of six soldiers from the Islamic Defenders Front (FPI) who were shot by police officers from the Metro Jaya Police .
Komnas HAM Commissioner Beka Ulung Hapsara said that during the investigation on Wednesday (12/23/2020), Bareskrim investigators brought a number of evidence, such as firearms, sharp weapons and mobile phones. Bareskrim Polri investigators brought a total of 6 firearms to the Komnas HAM office in Menteng, central Jakarta.

Beka said there were differences between the four weapons belonging to the police and the two weapons claimed to belong to the FPI laskar. The four guns owned by the police were factory guns, while the FPI’s were not factory guns.
However, Komnas HAM has not concluded whether the two weapons belonged to the FPI or not.
“Not yet. We are not done yet. This was just asking for information and detailing some of the things it contains. For example, the issue of firearms, whether they have been tested for ballistics or not, then forensics,” Beka said.
Beka said her party would request input from experts to further investigate these firearms.
“We have some experience with firearms. How they are classified and what is their information. We can invite experts and other references,” he said.
Meanwhile, for the sharpened weapons, the Bareskrim researchers showed four of them to Komnas HAM. The four sharp weapons ranged from swords, sickles, to sharp-edged sticks. The police also claimed that the four belonged to the FPI laskar.
Then there were seven cell phones belonging to the six FPI laskar that were displayed by Bareskrim researchers. Komnas HAM has also accessed the content of the seven mobile phones and found a bright spot related to the timing of the incident. Komnas HAM also obtained recordings that previously circulated among the public.

The investigation of the Bareskrim researchers and various pieces of evidence lasted six hours. Beka said the exam started at 10.30 WIB and was completed at 4.30 WIB. Bareskrim researchers who assisted about 30 people.
Currently, according to Beka, Bareskrim has recovered all evidence in the form of firearms, sharp weapons and mobile phones belonging to the six FPI laskar. However, Komnas HAM may ask again if necessary.
In the incident on the Jakarta-Cikampek toll road on the morning of December 7, 2020, the police shot dead six members of the FPI Laskar. At that moment, the FPI laskar escorted the group of their leader, Rizieq Shihab.
During the December 14 reconstruction, the police described members of the FPI laskar who attacked and shot the police for the first time during the incident.
According to the police, two members of the FPI laskar died after a shooting. Four other members of the FPI laskar were shot after attempting to seize police weapons in the car.
Bareskrim Polri revealed that there were a total of 18 gunshot wounds in the six bodies of members of the FPI laskar. Furthermore, no signs of violence were found on the six bodies. Police said the results of the reconstruction were not final. Additional reconstruction may be possible if there are new findings.
On the other hand, the FPI denied that its members attacked and shot the police first. The FPI said that the police were not in uniform and that several cars had ambushed them.
Rizieq’s guard then tried to get rid of the unidentified car. Then a car carrying 6 FPI soldiers separated from the main group. The FPI also confirmed that the laskar members were not equipped with firearms.
