Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – PT Bank Maybank Indonesia Tbk (BNII) commitment to replace Rs 22 billion worth of client funds belonging to esports athlete Winda Lunardi has not been fully met. Maybank Indonesia said it would only replace Winda funds worth Rs 16.8 billion.
This was relayed by Maybank Indonesia spokesman Tommy Hersyaputera, who said Maybank management conveyed this willingness to pay in a mediation process facilitated by the Consumer Protection Department of the Financial Services Authority.
“Currently, the mediation process facilitated by the Department of Consumer Protection, the Financial Services Authority, is still ongoing. Through this mediation, we have declared our willingness to reimburse Rp. 16.8 billion. While the rest still He is awaiting the investigation process by friends in the Police “said Tommy, when contacted by CNBC Indonesia, on Tuesday (11/24/2020).
Although the value of this compensation capacity is less than Winda’s loss of Rp 22 billion, Tommy said, the rest would still be pending the results of the police investigation.
Thus, it is expected to clarify who received the flow of funds from the Winda account managed by Albert, the suspect who is also the Head of the Maybank Cipulir Branch.
“We request the cooperation of all parties so that we respect the investigation process that is still being carried out by the friends of the Police, which we hope will further clarify the roles of the parties receiving funds,” he said.
A CNBC Indonesia source with knowledge of this information admitted that as of today, Tuesday, November 24, 2020, no refund has been made from Maybank.
Indeed, it has been more than a week since the bank, whose shares are controlled by Sorak Financial Holdings Pte Ltd and Maybank Pffshore Corporate Services, took the initiative to pass on Winda’s repayment plan, which disappeared from its savings on 16 November.
“So far Maybank has not made up for the losses,” a CNBC Indonesia source with knowledge of the information said on Tuesday (11/24/2020).
Earlier, Maybank Indonesia attorney Hotman Paris Hutapea also proposed a push to replace Winda’s funds. He admitted that he had ordered Maybank to replace the funds belonging to Winda Lunardi and her mother, who had disappeared for Rs 22 billion in their savings account.
“In good faith, I told Maybank to pay even though this oddity is very serious,” he said on a KompasTV talk show.
Hotman continued, amid these pros and cons, Maybank will certainly pay for Winda’s losses. Not only that, he also said that Maybank was a large bank with total assets reaching Rs 175 trillion.
“Maybank will pay. Tell Winda and her father Kopi Johny, I will try to make Maybank pay as long as the solution is beneficial to everyone, this is my promise, Maybank is willing to pay even if there is a discomfort like this,” he said.
