PYONGYANG, KOMPAS.com – North Korea displays its new intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) in a military parade to celebrate 75 years of the Korean Party.

The ICBM was transported on an erector-transporter launcher (TEL) vehicle around Kim Il Sung Square in Pyongyang, in an event that reportedly took place in the early hours of the morning.

The TEL used to carry the latest missile has 22 wheels, indicating that this weapon is the largest in North Korea.

In fact, Ankit Panda of the United States Federation of Scientists declared the missile “the largest portable liquid fuel weapon.”

By comparison, the Hwasong-15, which is North Korea’s best ICBM, is currently powered by an 18-wheeler TEL.

Both local officials and scientists claimed as reported Yonhap Saturday (10/10/2020), the longer the missile, the further it flies.

The Hwasong-15 is reported to have a range of up to 12,874 kilometers, making it possible to reach all major US continents.

Pyongyang also has two other types of ICBM, namely the Hwasong-13 which can travel up to 5,500 km and the Hwasong-14 with a range of 10,058.

It’s just that, according to expert information, the missiles on display in the military parade cannot carry various types of warheads.

It can be seen from the pointed tip. To carry a different warhead, experts say that the shape of the weapon must be more round.

“A more in-depth analysis needs to be done to determine whether it is the latest development of the Hwasong-15, or even the Hwasong-16,” said South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff Office.

In addition to the ICBM, North Korea also exhibited a submarine-launched ballistic missile (SLBM), which was called the Pukguksong-4.

Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un said in his New Year’s speech that they would introduce “new strategic weapons.”

Kim, who was wearing a gray suit at the time, said they would continue to strengthen themselves for “self-defense and deterrence.”

“If you don’t have the strength, you have to wipe away the tears and blood that flows with your boxing head,” Kim said. AFP.
