YAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – A total of 36 Otobus Inter-provincial Businesses (PO) (AKAP) have received permission from the Ministry of Transport (Kemenhub) to resume operations amid a ban on returning home.
In total, of the 36 POs, there were only 300 license units. The bus may operate not to go home, but it serves passengers with special criteria that are excluded in the Covid-19 Acceleration Task Force Circular Letter Number 4 Year 2020.
For the Jakarta area, all buses can only carry passengers at the Pulo Gebang Integrated Terminal, East Jakarta. However, for cities the destination is very limited.

“There are 36 POs authorized to operate as special transport and only in Pulo Gebang. Because the need is not to go home, the destination areas are not all cities in the usual way,” said Kurnia Lesani Adnan, President of the Otobus Entrepreneurs Association of Indonesia (IPOMI). Kompas.com, Wednesday (05/13/2020).
The man familiarly known as Sani also explained that the price of tickets offered to potential passengers had undergone major price revisions. The increase is quite high, ranging from 50 percent to 100 percent more.
The condition is because there are rules that have been agreed because buses must operate applying physical distancing. This means that the passengers that are carried must not have more than 50 percent of the normal capacity.

Take the example of Jakarta-Bengkulu with PO Siliwangi Antar Nusa (SAN). According to Sani, the normal rate is around Rp. 450,000 but due to an agreement, it increased by 50 percent to Rp. 675,000.
“We also see the capacity and condition of people during this epidemic, so we only increased by 50 percent to Rp. 675,000 for the Jakarta-Bengkulu route. In essence, our opportunity to operate again is not focused on business but in doing services, “said Sani.
While for PO Sumber Alam with Jakarta-Yogyakarta specialties, the increase reached more than 100 percent. Even more expensive than the price during the Lebanese season.
