Chelsea was shockingly killed by West Bromwich Albion at home. Thiago Silva’s red card made the Blues’ plans fail.
Chelsea are looking to continue their skillful record with Thomas Tuchel when they host West Brom at Stamford Bridge on Saturday (3/4/2021). Blue is clearly the favorite considering they are on fire with Tuchel.
Meanwhile, West Brom only scored one goal in their last five games and fell to 19th place. Chelsea, who lined up their best squad, played on the attack from the opening minutes.
Chelsea looked like they were going to win big when Christian Pulisic opened his team’s lead in the 25th minute. But two minutes later, disaster struck when Thiago Silva received a second yellow card for a foul.
As a result, Silva had to leave the field and make Chelsea play with 10 people. Lacking the number of players, Chelsea fell 1-2 thanks to goals from Matheus Pereira in the team’s injury in the first half.
It was only in the second half that Chelsea had trouble keeping up with West Brom’s tactical play. He had scored another Mason Mount goal though. two goals from Callum Robinson and Mbaye Diagne saw Chelsea finally win 2-5.
Chelsea couldn’t really do much in the second half, because they had to choose between defending or attacking freely. The loss of a player is considered to have played a major role in this crushing defeat.
“We practically controlled the game before the red card. After that, we couldn’t control the situation. I don’t know why,” Tuchel said. BBC Sport.
“We gave two easy goals. In fact, everything can go wrong after the red card. We accept this crushing defeat. We made many major mistakes before the two yellow cards. Too often we lose the ball. It is difficult for us to accept this situation, “” he continued.
“Each of his shots is a goal. Obviously this is not our day. We will recover as quickly as possible.”
