SURABAYA, KOMPASTV – Up to 34 employees of the Sampoerna cigarette factory in the Rungkut district, Surabaya, Central Java, are now receiving treatment at two hospitals.

The president of East Java Covid-19 Coordination Healing Cluster, Dr. Joni Wahyuhadi, explained that his office had difficulty finding hospitals and treatment facilities because 34 of the positive patients were women.

The hotel, which was originally a place of isolation and observation, also rejected patients because it had declared positive. It also cannot repatriate employees. Most of the employees are known to come from out of town and live in pensions around the cigarette factory.

“We had a hard time finding a hospital because all the employees. We negotiated until early in the morning and it was finally decided to be seen in two hospitals,” Joni said at a press conference in the Granadi Negara building, Surabaya, on Friday (05 / 02/2020). Quoted from Kompas.com.

About 34 employees at the Sampoerna cigarette factory tested positive for the coronavirus (Covid-19) were the results of the RSU Dr. Soetomo Surabaya exchange polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test, which came out on Friday ( 1/5/2020).

They are the first wave of 100 people to be declared reactive during a rapid test. The first wave examined 46 employees, 34 of whom were declared positive.
