President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) reportedly sent a basket of flowers to North Korean leader Kim Jong Un. The flower basket was sent to mark the 72nd anniversary of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) or North Korea.
Judging from photos released by North Korean state media, Korea Central News Agency (KCNA)On Thursday (9/24/2020), the flowers Jokowi sent were red, white, yellow, and purple. The types of flowers that were arranged in the basket were not explained.
The flowers seem arranged in a basket dominated by yellow. You can also see the distinctive colors of the North Korean flag on the basket.
Beautiful red ribbons seem to adorn the flower arrangement. The words “President Joko Widodo” in Korean can be seen on a hanging ribbon.

KCNA reported that the flower basket was delivered to the relevant officials by the Indonesian ambassador to North Korea. This floral gift shipped on September 22.
In addition to the flower crowns, Jokowi is said to have sent greetings to Kim Jong Un. Comments were submitted on September 2, 2020 and posted KCNA on Wednesday (9/23) yesterday.
In that message, Jokowi congratulated the founding day of North Korea. Jokowi also hopes that North Korea can overcome the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic.
“I believe that the spirit of the anniversary will strengthen the efforts of the DPRK government and people to overcome the challenges caused by the COVID-19 pandemic,” Jokowi said.
The following is the full message of Jokowi’s message to Kim Jong Un:
Allow me to convey to His Majesty and the people of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea my sincere congratulations on the 72nd anniversary of the establishment of the DPRK on September 9, 2020.
I believe that the spirit of the anniversary will strengthen the efforts of the DPRK government and people to overcome the challenges caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
On this occasion, I also want to reaffirm my commitment to strengthening cooperation between Indonesia and Korea DPR for the common interests of the two countries, as well as for peace and progress in the region and beyond.
Please accept, Your Excellency, the renewed assurance of my highest consideration and best wishes for Your Excellency’s health and continued success in Your Excellency’s noble duties.
On the other hand, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Kemlu), when asked for confirmation on the Jokowi flower basket for Kim Jong Un, said it would check it first.
“I will check first,” Foreign Ministry spokesman Teuku Faizasyah said.
