Jakarta –
Manchester United and Liverpool are named as two of three candidates for the Premier League title this season. The third? Not Manchester City.
All three teams currently control the top positions in the Premier League standings. Man United is in first place with 36 points from 17 games, followed by Liverpool in second place with 33 points from as many games.
Liverpool’s position could have been changed by Manchester City, who finished third with 32 points from 16 games. Alias is just one point from Red.
According to Mikael Silvestre, who played for Manchester United and Arsenal in the Premier League, said that this season’s competition would only belong to three teams. Two of the teams are now in the top three. It did not include Man City in the competition.
“For me, there are only three teams in the race for the title this year: Man United, Liverpool and I will also put Leicester in,” Silvestre said as quoted by Mirror.
Silvestre also commented more on the current form of Man United under the leadership of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who is able to lead the standings even though he was initially not taken into account.
“The competition this season is open and it is good for Manchester United to be in the competition rather than in a position to catch up and watch from a distance,” Silvestre said.
“Now it is still how (MU) stays there. They are in a very positive position at the moment. The good thing is that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer hasn’t changed a thing in recent weeks.”
“After going through a poor performance until his current position, he is consistent with his plans and ideas. Solskjar does not need to change anything, it is the players who must respond to what is asked of them,” he added.
