JAKARTA, KOMPAS.TV – The Coordinating Minister of Maritime Affairs and Investments, Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, affirms that the Omnibus Law of the Employment Creation Law (UU) passed by the Indonesian Parliament will not harm the people.

“There is nothing in the Omnibus Law that is harmful to people, both environmental issues. That is Ms. Siti (Minister of LHK), an environmental expert. So we have never misled or damaged people’s trust in us.” Luhut said in a virtual broadcast on Tuesday (6/10/2020). ).

Luhut denied the view that the work and the ratification of the Employment Creation Law were carried out secretly and not transparently.

“It is not true that this was (done) in secret, everyone was invited,” Luhut said.

Luhut admitted that he had spoken with labor representatives during the job about the job creation bill, which has now been ratified by the Indonesian Parliament.

“I spoke many times with the Minister of Manpower, Mrs. Ida Fauziah. I also spoke with several workers, we will not do anything bad for the workers,” Luhut admitted.

Luhut also said that President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) had met with union leaders at the Presidential Palace, when the Omnibus Law was about to be passed.
