Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia– The Covid-19 Management Working Group provided clarification on the video from the World Alliance of Doctors stating that Covid-19 is a common cold and that there is no pandemic in the world.
“It is important for the public to know that the video content distributed by the global physicians alliance group falls into the category of misinformation,” said Covid-19 Task Force spokesman Professor Wiku Adisasmito at a conference on online press, Tuesday (10/27/2020).
In more detail, he explained that there were 3 misinformations in the content, namely general beliefs, second, beliefs in conspiracy theories, and third, beliefs of religions.
“The content of the information in this video can be identified as erroneous information that appears when equating Covid-19 with influenza. It is important to know, the causes of the transmission dynamics and the consequences of the two diseases are very different”, Wiku said.
He emphasized that this misinformation can affect the public’s response to the information. Therefore, he asked the public to evaluate the credibility of the information in reliable institutions such as the World Health Organization or WHO, United Nations, Centers for Disease Control (CDC).
“Especially in Indonesia, institutions that can be trusted to assess Covid-19 related information, such as the Indonesian Ministry of Health and the Covid-19 Management Working Group.
The head of the COvid-19 Task Force, Lt. Gen. Doni Monardo, repeatedly stated that the existence of the corona virus (Covid-19) was not engineering, much less a conspiracy.
“The public is increasingly aware that Covid is not an invention, not a conspiracy. Covid is real,” Doni said.
Doni said the number of Covid-19 victims worldwide had reached 1 million, and this was likely to increase as no vaccine was found. Therefore, people should not take things lightly.
Doni said that the most effective way to break the chain of Covid-19 transmission was to implement health protocols, namely #pakaimasker, #jagajarak to avoid crowds, and #cucitangan using soap and running water.
