Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Modern retail entrepreneurs are confident that DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan will review his decision to close retail or modern stores, as from next week on the PSBB total which will go into effect on September 14, 2020.
The Vice President of the Indonesian Retail Entrepreneurs Association (Aprindo), Fernando Repi, said that communication with the provincial government of DKI Jakarta continues. This includes sending a formal protest letter regarding the closure of modern stores, such as shopping malls.

This belief arises because the impact of losses due to the closure of modern retail will be very great. He admitted that the second total PSBB in DKI Jakarta had a greater impact than the total PSBB since last April.
“Just for simulations, the first PSBB grew -5.4% so far. Now this is about to come back all of a sudden, it hit again. Although it is just Jakarta, but you are concerned that it will spread to the regions. It could be Surabaya or others.” he said.
A further decline in growth is certainly not expected. He believes that the economy can be sustainable with health. Furthermore, Fernando believed that the spread of Covid-19 was not coming from modern retail.
“We ask Governor Anies to give modern retail the opportunity to operate. Of course with Protap. We are ready to be penalized if there may be violations,” he explained.
