jpnn.com, JAKARTA – National Police Criminal Investigators have named Projamin Ambroncius Nababan as a suspect in the alleged racial slur against former Komnas HAM commissioner Natalius Pigai.
Following this decision, investigators immediately detained Ambroncius.
“This afternoon, the Criminal Investigation Unit of the National Police picked up the person concerned, around 6.30 p.m. he was transferred to the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Police. At 19:40 he arrived at the Criminal Investigation Unit, ”said the Chief of the Police Public Relations Division, Inspector General Raden Prabowo Argo Yuwono, Tuesday (1/26).
Argo explained that the investigation team was still examining Ambroncius as a suspect.
As for the detention, it will only be determined tomorrow after being examined for 1×24 hours.
“Still under investigation, that is the authority of the investigator (to be detained or not),” Argo added.
In this case, Ambroncius was charged by article 45 paragraph (2) in conjunction with article 28 paragraph (2) of Law 19/2016 on ITE and article 16 of Law 40/2008 on the Elimination of Discrimination, Race and Ethnicity, and article 156 of the Penal Code. He faces up to 5 years in prison.
Previously, the Criminal Investigation Unit of the National Police acted swiftly to investigate the alleged racial insult committed by the head of the Projamin Ambroncius Nababan to the former Komnas HAM commissioner, Natalius Pigai.
